Waiporoporo explores complexities of identity in Aotearoa in relation to sense of place and belonging.
Ana describes the ongoing project as “a mixed race synthetic new age millennial red-blue hybrid baby.
Light bending, opposites converging, transcendental bastard girl colour. Waiporoporo (purple) is the most refracted colour when light passes through a prism, putting it at the far end of the visible colour spectrum.”
This iteration of Waiporoporo is a live performance by Ana Te Kōtiro. Ana layers her voice with breath, movement, and electronic equipment to produce a multi-faceted and complex sound. With a background in live theatre and film, she is able to blur the intersections between theatre, art and music.
