RATHER OWE YOU THAN NOT PAY YOU

CASEY CARSEL

3 MAY - 20 MAY 2017

Memory is worn down by the act of remembering. Representation is worn down by repetition. An endless series of imitations mutate, reform and repurpose what was once viscerally present into a revision of itself. Only a smell of the original remains. To wade through the memory-layers to the original experience is practically impossible. The form loses its function. So, in an act of compromise —to be kept alive— memories are re-made in tangible form. And when the tangible is no longer viable, when all physical matter has disintegrated, stories are made instead.

RATHER OWE YOU THAN NOT PAY YOU is presented alongside Casey Carsel's online project, HE HAD HIS LUNCH AND I HAD MINE. Click here to view.
